It was the Dromers time to shine this past Saturday as the Sportsdrome and Kentuckianna Tank Wash presented the 19th Annual Dromer 50 Twin 50 Championship. Two 50 lap features were ran, one on the Oval course and one on the Figure 8. The driver having the lowest points total following the completion of both features would be the over-all Champion. The Lucas Oil FWD Oval cars ran a 50 lap feature as did the KY Clutch FWD Figure 8 class. Qualifying was first on the program with John King turning the fast lap of 17.162 seconds in the FWD Ovals. Brian Krebs set the fast time of 23.012 seconds for the FWD Figure 8 cars. Nick Johnson's time of 16.281 seconds was not only the fast Dromer time but set a new track record as well, giving Johnson two track records. He holds the ICA Dumpster Oval Xtreme record.
Nick Johnson turned in a wire to wire performance to claim victory in the first 50 lap race, putting all but the second and third place cars down a lap. Ronnie Basham gave a good chase to finish second, followed by Todd Hash, Raymond Johnson and Doug Wicker. Raymond Johnson took control on the 23rd lap of the Figure-8 50 lap feature with Nick Johnson taking second. It was an all out battle from that point on with Raymond keeping control for the win. Nick Johnson finished second followed by Jeff Roberts, Joe Moore and Mike Bivens. When the points were totaled, Nick Johnson's first and second place finishes named him the over-all winner. Second place saw a tie between Roberts/Basham and Raymond Johnson. Qualifying times were used as a tie breaker which gave second place over-all to Roberts/Basham with Raymond Johnson, Scott Bruner and the team of Tony Dunn/Harold Murphy completing the top five over-all. Jamie Bierman outran John King for the win in the FWD Oval race. King finished second followed by Austin Baum, Colt Moore and Chris Maynard. Brian Krebbs claimed victory in the FWD Figure 8 feature. Bubby Gedling was second followed by John Kennybrook, Moore and Billy Higgins Jr. A special shout out to newcomer Tyler Redden after winning for the first time in the FWD Last Chance Race. The Legends were on hand as well, with Taylor Webb holding off his brother Alec for the win. Alec finish second followed by Jack Dossey III, Jack Dossey Jr. and Gerrald Tripp.
